In Royal Pride Holland sustainable production is in our seal

We are in continued search for new technology that increases efficiency in energy use and allows a more rational use of it. We have power generators that convert gas into heat, electricity and CO2. The electricity that we produce provides circa 30 000 homes with electrical power and is also used in the supplemental light system in our greenhouses. The heat and CO2 generated is used for the tomato production. The total energy use efficiency of our operations is around 95%, compared to the 50% energy use efficiency of a central power station.

But sustainability is not limited to the energy use; we aim to produce tomatoes without pesticides. Therefore, our scouts walk every day between the plants searching for diseases and pests that we tackle with biological means. (see Biological Control)
